Mission Statement

Welcome my little blog, my name is Martin Hookway and this blog is a way for me to log my personal thoughts & views as I am attempting to complete personal & physical challenges each year with other like minded people.

The next Challenge's:

LONDON MARATHON (21st April 2013)
EDINBURGH MARATHON (26th May 2013)
YORKSHIRE MARATHON (20th Oct 2013)

THE ADIDAS THUNDER RUN 24 hour Race
#PROJECT100in24 (27th to 28th July)

I will be running as usual with GPS with Runkeeper & tweeting as I run on @TEAMB_O_B as long as I have phone coverage so all your support will be gratefully received.

I am currently funraising for Rainbow Trust so please dig deep if you can to help this amazing charity.

Rainbow Trust is a Children’s Charity that provides emotional and practical support to
families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness; immediate
help is available for families 24 hours a day. Support is offered from diagnosis
through treatment and, should a family become bereaved, we continue to support
them for as long as they need us. They help family members cope with the present
and prepare them for the future.
So please dig deep & help this great charity, just think £10 is a meal at KFC so by donating £10 you will not only be helping yourself but you'll also be helping others ;o)

Cheers for taking the time to read my blog, its greatly apreciated, fingers crossed it will bring a smile to your face. My challenges never quite go to plan... ENJOY.

A NEW BLOG MUST MEAN A NEW CHALLENGE FOR TEAM BOB?

Right as you all know, since Hookway to Hookway I have not done much regarding fundraising or challenges, apart from the odd bit of training I have not really kept up with my fitness either.

NO I have not been lazy before you all start, I have been busy setting up a new business adventure as both me & The Wife are being made redundant from our child care job's. I can not say much regarding this matter at the moment but I can tell you that my new business adventure is still working with the local children.

We are setting up a local Breakfast & After School Club in a local school. This provision will enable parents to drop their children off with us in the morning allowing them to go to work, we will give the children breakfast, provide them with a safe & entraining environment before we take them to their respected schools in the local villages. This Provision is extended to after school too where we will collect the children from school, give them a light snack & provide them with a wide range of activities until they are collected by their parents.

The Club is Staffed by fully trained Playworkers & Early Years Practitioners however primarily the running of the club is determined by the children attending. The younger children will be involved in making everyday decisions and the older children will be involved with the ordering of resources & managing the clubs petty cash.

As you can guess this has taken up a lot of my time to organise, I have been aiming for this for the last 4 years & although this has caused me to delay this years challenge it has not stopped it as next year I intend to do this years challenge, AND next years challenge! I have not made my mind up on the charity yet but as before it will be a well deserved charity.

So I have 2 challenges next year, All I can tell you is that they are both endurance challenges, one will be ran & the other cycled. I gave myself the challenge of 1 challenge a year but this is the only way can catch up. Training has been slow due to work but I started cycling again last month & running a couple of weeks ago. I completed my first "long" ride last week competing in the Selby Great Ride, a 45 mile ride for a local charity with 1000 more competitors. Not a very long ride but to say it was my birthday weekend & I was drunk for the previous 2 nights, the 17mile ride there followed by the 45 mile ride then 17 back, sure sorted me out lol. I have my first "long" run tomorrow, I have been roped into running the Askern 10K road race by a friend (cheers Ian.)

To be honest in true Martin Style I have not done enough training so to finish in under 1hour would be a bonus. BUT training for next year has started so watch this space, if last year was anything to go by its going to be an entertaining journey.

You can still follow me on Twitter using @TEAMB_O_B Follow TeamB_O_B on Twitter  & I'm using the Runkeeper App so please show your support.
